Coming Home to Aztlan

It just keeps getting better in the Land of 1000 Dances. The Art that reflects the Chicano culture de Aztlan is getting more well known around the World, for sure.

I can't help but feel a sense of pride whenever I log onto this webpage, or open my e-mails, and more people are making our Art & Cultural existence more well known through announcements, stories, poems, plays, shows, and of course, the beautiful music that makes my world go around.

We don't live in a perfect World, and until we hit that golden dance floor in Heaven (at least that's how I see it), we never will. So , we might as well accept the cards in life we were dealt, do the best we can for ourselves and those we love, try our best to make it better...and let the music play, so my people can dance, and our young people can learn!

That being said, here's some good news that has the Gente of the Land of 1000 Dances watering at the mouth, polishing up them dancing calcos, breaking out their best party duds, and "making ojos" at their favorite honey:

My good friend Mr. Steve Caudillo of the Lakewood Hop is more than happy to announce that one of the legends of Chicano Music, Mr. Joe Bataan, returns to his 2nd home in L.A. for a concert appearance Sunday, May 7th, at one of my favorite spots in the Land of 1000 Dances, the Lakewood Hop in Lakewood, California.

Known for Chicano Music classics like "In the good old days", "Under the street lamp", "Young, gifted, and Brown", "I wish you love", "My cloud", "Cry", and so many others that reflect the lives, loves, and times of the people of the Land of 1000 Dances, Joe Bataan has become a legend on the West Coast, and his shows always sell out, and it's always a good time. Originally from New York and having performed for over 35 years across the Country, Joe knows that the Gente on the West Coast have helped keep his music alive, and he never forgets friends like Steve Caudillo.

"I've been thinking, planning, and working for this since last year", Steve happily told me recently, "I'm probably one of Joe's biggest fans, and with all the great Gente that come out to the Lakewood Hop that I've come to make friends with, I feel like I'm having a one big family get together".

Count me in, Carnal, I'll be there! (I'll even bring the chicharrones!)

To make the "familia" even tighter, he's also included one of the Lakewood Hop's favorite attractions to the bill, the one and only SATISFACTION band.

Wow! Talk about a party! JOE BATAAN and SATISFACTION in concert on Cinco de Mayo weekend at the Lakewood Hop. VIVA LA RAZA!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Tickets are starting to sell fast since the initial announcement, so be sure to get yours, and I'll see you there, SUNDAY, MAY 7th!

note: Steve Caudillo and The Lakewood Hop are planning 4 days of Cinco de Mayo
celebration activities, culminating with the JOE BATAAN/SATISFACTION show.
