The Gente were looking good and kicking up the chancla at the South Bay Chamber of Commerce event this weekend, where none other than SATISFACTION, along with guest singer Pepe Marquez, put on a great performance. Numerous celebrities awarded college scholarships to distinguished students, as the music played on. A black tie affair, numerous TV & civic celebrities were on hand to present the scholarships & awards.
Gearing up for some friendly competition where only the audience wins big time, The Lakewood Hop (www.lakewoodhop.com), and The Montebello Inn (323-722-2927) have put together some impressive line ups of Chicano talent in Aztlan that promises to add a few degrees to the coming summer action. Step out and look good, Mi gente!

The Salas Brothers & TIERRA continue their successful reunion tour as they entertained a large & happy crowd at the Santa Fe Springs swap meet this past weekend. MIDNITE'S MOON, the new group consisting of THEE MIDNITER greats & founders, Benny Lopez and George Salazar, former IMPALAS lead singer Al Anaya , former JAGUARS & EAST L.A. REVUE ALL STAR BAND member Tony "Beaver" Carroll, and others, made their world wide debut on the 2nd Time Around Show (www.kclafm.com ~ Thursdays, 6:oo pm)last week to very positive response. Playing new cuts "Sad girl, be sad no more", and "Firme's Land", along with original MIDNITER classics, the show again topped the meters with heavy listener response. The Soul of Aztlan Show, featuring Frankie Firme, an exclusive preview of the documentary movie "The West Coast East Side Sound Sound" with guests producers Hector & Lava Gonzalez, Jimmy Velarde, and Steven Chavez, along with live performaces by singers Pepe Marquez and Anthony Prieto, is happening July 8th starting at 5:00pm, in Sylmar, Califas.
We will also have a send off and good luck party for author Luis Rodriguez, who has been invited to South America to promote Chicano Culture. This is a FREE event for the Community at the Tia Chucha's Cultural Cafe, Bookstore, Art Gallery & Performing Center in Sylmar.
