Eva Mendes Bares Almost All

After turning down Playboy a few years ago, Eva Mendes bared it all for a spread in Flaunt magazine. Among the photos of Mendes in the issue is a pull-out poster featuring a tastefully nude Mendes.

According to a study released by the University of Georgia, Hispanics will exceed Blacks to become the most powerful minority consumers in the U.S. with buying power expected to be around $863 billion in 2007.

According to information released by Nielsen this week, ad-spending in Spanish-language TV for the first half of 2006 was $1.5 billion, almost 22% more than the same period last year.

Latino magazine websites are reaping the benefits of online marketers. Latina Magazine?s website expects to bring in $1 million this year, up from $150,000 in 2005. People En Espa?ol?s website has also been successful in attracting online marketers. Despite the popularity of the websites, the print versions continue to grow in ad sales as well.

Taco Bell is looking to increase its marketing to Spanish-speaking consumers in response to lackluster sales to Hispanics, who make up 20% of the fast-food chain?s target market. Analysts, however, debate whether the issue is the actual product and not necessarily an advertising issue.

Azteca America has joined the ranks of Univision and Telemundo to be included in Nielsen?s general market ratings. This also allows ratings for these networks not only to be compared to each other, but also to major networks.

The government of Puerto Rico and SBS Puerto Rico teamed up on Monday to welcome home Miss Universe 2006 Zuleyka Rivera. The festivities included performances by Victor Manuelle, Limite 21, Gilberto Santa Rosa, Black Guayaba, Giselle, Jeremias and Rakim and Ken Y.

The Spanish film ?Princesas? opened in theaters last week. The film directed by Fernando Leon de Aranoa is the story of two prostitutes who form a friendship.
