Goza Productions, a community-based production company, announces L.A Rumba 2006, Night of Legends, a dance concert featuring the Legendary Group from Cuba La Sonora Matancera. L.A. Rumba will be held Saturday October 21, 2006 at the Hollywood Park Casino in Inglewood.
"In developing this event we wanted to put together a show that would include the established, the modern, the international and local groups that have made major statements in the industry," said Alex Acosta of Goza Productions.
"This show has the perfect balance of legendary salsa from Matancera y Latin Brothers, a more modern genre from Los Gemelos and a standard in Johnny Polanco. We think this will be an incredible event highlighting some incredible Latino talent and history" stated Goza member Jerry Aguilar.
Headlining L.A. Rumba will be La Sonora Matancera. More than just another muscial group, La Sonora Matancera is an establishment in the Latino music industry. They have been called "the group with the longest duration" by the Guinness Book of World Records. In its seven decades of musical excellence it has featured some of the most famous musicians in latin music. Its greatest alumna being Celia Cruz who started her illustrious career with Sonora Matancera.
Two incredible Colombian Orquestras will also be featured at the event. The Latin Brothers is one of the most successful Colombian salsa groups, organized by Fruko y sus Tesos. They have been playing for international audiences and taking their tropical interpretations worldwide for decades. For salseros everywhere such songs as "Las Cale?as son como Las Flores", "Buscandote", "Sobre las Olas", and "Fuma el Barco" are easily recognized and welcomed whenever they are performed.
Also peforming that night, Los Gemelos de Alquimia, John Jairo y Marco Antonio Ibanez. As members of the prestigious Colombian Group ALQUIMIA LA SONORA DEL XXI they toured the world as ambassadors of music and their beautiful country of Colombia. Los Gemelos continue performing internationally with the same unequaled passion that has become the trademark of the Colombian tropical music tradition.
Rounding out the evening is Johnny Polanco y Conjunto Amistad. One of the most sought-after bandleaders in in the U.S., Johnny Polanco has gained distinction for making the type of contagious Latin Music that is truly appreciated by the dancing connoisseurs. Conjunto Amistad was formed in February, 1993. This band has influenced the growth and popularity of Salsa music for over a decade.
