Joe Bravo, the artist currently exhibiting at the Mexican Cultural Institute Gallery on Olvera Street in downtown Los Angeles, has extended his show "Bravo: The Tortilla Paintings and other Artwork by Joe Bravo" by one week, ending with a closing reception on Saturday, January 20 from 6 to 9 pm.
What makes his exhibit unique is that he paints on large flour tortillas. Since the exhibit opened on November 18, 2006, over 10,000 people have visited the Institute‘«÷s gallery and seen his artwork. People from all over the United States as well as Latin America, Asia, and Europe have enjoyed his work.

He'a appeared live on Channel 34‘«÷s ‘«£Primera Edici??n‘«ō early morning news program in L.A. on Monday, January 8 doing a tortilla painting. He was also interviewed by Telemundo for a segment of the national Spanish news magazine, ‘«£Al Rojo Vivo‘«ō to be aired later this month. He also have an interview coming up on the national Latino cable channel SiTV.
Another highlight of the exhibit was the sale of his tortilla painting, ‘«£Virgen de Guadalupe‘«ō to ‘«£Flea‘«ō, the bassist for the Red Hot Chili Peppers. Affordable prints, t-shirts and other items are available for sale, along with his very collectible fine art.
Be sure to visit the closing ceremony of the ‘«£Bravo‘«ō Exhibition on Saturday, January 20 from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. The public is invited to attend.
The Mexican Cultural Institute is located in the historical Plaza in Olvera Street. The exhibit is taking place during the high volume holiday season. The broad range of attendees will include Mexican, Mexican-Americans, Latinos, non-Latinos, professionals from downtown offices, families from the greater Los Angeles area, and civic officials, who will enjoy the art, the accompanying events, and the other attractions that the Plaza has to offer.
