Happenings in the Land of 1000 Dances
?é?íOrale, mi Gente! Things continue to rock & roll in the City of Angels, in the Land of 1000 Dances, Aztlan, as the weather gets hotter, and the price of gas keeps a lot of us close to home in our neighborhoods.
Published on LatinoLA: March 15, 2007
...not because we're cheap, but because we want to send a message. More on that later...
I'd like to publicly thank Ryan Seacrest of TV's "American Idol" for taking our advice from last season, finally combing his hair and shaving, and wearing some nice suits for a change...I guess he reads LatinoLA!
...Homie was looking kinda homeless & down on his luck last season..know what I mean?
(...somebody must have mistakenly told him he was in style last season...)
...and now, the word from the avenues & boulevards of Aztlan, watcha:
The closing and re-locating of Luis Rodriguez's TIA CHUCHA'S CULTURAL ART & PERFORMING CENTER in Sylmar last month, and the accompanying stories in many L.A. publications has brought out a wealth of inquiries and pledged support, for which we thank you all. But we're not done yet! We need to continue to help keep our beautiful culture, art, and traditions alive, as well as continue the education of our young. If you have the ganas to step up and be Brown, attend a community support meeting this Saturday at Telfair Elementary School Auditorium in Pacoima from 10am to noon. Child care & refreshments will be provided. Call (818) 899-2454, (818) 402-2517, or e-mail: firstname.lastname@example.org. (pictured)
The LatinoLA sponsored East L.A. Revue World Wide Internet Radio Jukebox continues to grow and expand and blossom beyond our expectations. Station owners Steven Chavez & Janie Palacios-Chavez, DJ's FRANKIE FIRME, CHICO MANQUEROS, and CRAZY CHUY HERNANDEZ, along with media sponsor LATINOLA, are bringing together people from all over Aztlan, the continental United States and the World better than the United Nations ever could! Besides the home~crowd of Aztlan, we've also had contact and support from listeners in Europe, Japan, Canada, South America, and Mexico...
...and now, watcha: The homies from CUBA have checked in with what promises to be a new twist on some classic music: all the Motown hits in SPANISH. In case some of you didn't know, some of Motown's earliest successful hits had a distinctive Latin beat that got a lot of people's attention...and the rest is history. LATEST SCAM DEPARTMENT:
Some baboso calling himself a "U.S. Army Sargeant of the 3rd Armored Division in Iraq", mass e-mailing and asking for donations to help the soldiers & people in Iraq because the U.S. Government is turning their back on both of them. The LatinoLA road dogs checked it out and it is totally bogus!! Don't send them a dime, and send this message to the spam reporting spot on your e-mail's server, and let's bust these punks for disgracing our soldiers serving in Iraq with their posing & begging in the name of the red, white, and blue!.
LATEST RUMOR DEPARTMENT:
~ After much checking with reliable sources, rumors that singer Pepe Marquez was secretly wed in Las Vegas proved to be untrue. However, rumors that Pepe has been privately rehearsing with his old band, THE FLASHBACKS, for reunion concerts at this year's Avocado & Flower Festivals have been confirmed by the LatinoLA road dogs in an exclusive interview with Mr. Marquez himself. ~ Rumors that singer Cory Silva has been spotted skydiving, fishing, and waterskiing with Steven Chavez and Abelardo de la Pe?â??a Jr. off the coast of Catalina Island in Chavez Bay have yet to be substantiated, however, the East L.A. Revue road dogs have confirmed rumors that Cory is returning to the Montebello Inn April 7th with The new Temptations, The Chi-Lites, and Serena Silva for the return of regular summer shows.
