Two Quarters

The ghettoized view of the world has become unbordered

Two Quarters

Two quarters have transpired since I left Los Angeles to UC Riverside.

With my head held high and a new sense of pride.

The ghettoized view of the world has become unbordered.

Although there is still the talk of building a muro that it is intended to stop the immigrant entrance into Aztlan.

I look back at these two quarters with the acknowledgement that all that once was was not this place.

That was granted to me thanks to my Fate.

I do thank my city for giving me a distorted view of the world.

Pero now that I have been away I recognize that there is something truly wrong.

There is a sense of a new found freedom.

The acceptance of a fresh breath of air

(Although it is more highly polluted than here)

that has given me a new outlook on life.

I love LA but when I look at these two past quarters I recognize that I am no longer that LA me

But a Chicano University student looking for the answers entre los libros.

Looking forward to one day returning to my home

And strengthening the feeble foundation of my lovely calli, LA
