Ever since DogCatRadio.com created a media frenzy two years ago as the first radio station for pets and their humans, the station continues to win the hearts of pet lovers all across the Southland.
With more pet-friendly music added to the playlist, DogCatRadio.com is heard by pets at home and humans at work.
"We get emails from pet owners who want to throw a shout out to their four legged friends listening at home," says DJ, Jane Harris. "People miss their pets so our station kind of keeps them connected in the sense that it's a radio station that both the pet and owner listen to throughout the day."
Founder, Adrian Martinez, says the top 5 most requested songs are: "Hound Dog", "YMCA", "Popcorn Paws", "I'm your doggie", "That's what friends are for."
"For some people, pets are like their kids," says Martinez. "So 50% of our listeners are at home while the other 50% are at work."
During an interview with KROQ's popular morning DJ's Kevin and Bean, Kevin asked listeners to write DogCat Radio a "nasty worded letter" telling the founder what a dumb idea a radio station for pets was.
However, within minutes, DogCatRadio began receiving emails from KROQ listeners with messages like: "My dog says he prefers you over Kevin and Bean", and "Thanks for thinking about our furry friends!"
"I was shocked to say the least," says Martinez. "I expected hate mail, instead, Kevin and Bean's request to their listeners seemed to backfire. I still think they are great guys, they were just doing what they do every morning - acting foolish."
Good Morning America wrote Martinez and said: "We absolutely fell in love with DogCat Radio". Harry Smith, of CBS' Early Show, says "it is a Dog gone good idea!" For more media quotes visit DogCatRadio.com
