I am Alma Lopez, member of the Board of Directors of a non-profit called Cultura Art Space whose mission will make it possible for community, performance & arts events to continue happening at Espresso Mi Cultura without draining the resources of the bookstore, which currently finances the events via staffing, scheduling and promotion.
To that end we are beginning to raise funds and I have donated two images to initiate the Taza de Cultura Limited Edition Art Mug series. On behalf of the Board of Directors, I invite you to the unveiling at the 4th Anniversary Party at Espresso Mi Cultura on Saturday, August 24, 2002 starting at 6 pm. We plan to do several series of art mugs with works from different artists. These are going to be awesome collectibles and will be sold exclusively at Espresso Mi Cultura Bookstore. I am also donating one "Chuparosa" silkscreen print that I just did at Self Help Graphics Maestras Atelier to be raffled that evening.
The ceramic coffee mugs in Taza de Cultura series will include "Chuparosa" which features my friend Claudia Rodriguez (creative writer/poet), and the other is titled "Latina in the Land of Hollywood" which features Lysa Flores (musician/performer). Each mug is $18.35 (includes tax). The limited edition will be no more than 26 of each image. So, get a collectible art mug and all the proceeds support Cultura Art Space, Inc.
