We are aware on how the police department, the fire department, city and government agencies come out to help one of their own in time of need. We see and hear this on the news all the time.
This request is coming in the form of acknowledging those groups/musicians who play in such places as the Pechanga Casino, San Manuel Casino, Commerce Casino, and many other venues within a 50 mile radius of the city Los Angeles.
We are ‘«£Pouring Out for One of Our Own‘«ō. Dan Rios, a bass player and leader of a local, very popular musical group ‘«£Sangria‘«ō suffered congestive heart failure and went through quadruple bypass surgery this past November 20th. Dan is slowly recovering, but has been having complications coupled with diabetes.
As you may know these types of medical issues and procedures are not cheap, especially not having full medical coverage.
You could say Dan and his group Sangria has been an icon over the last 35 years in our music circuit. Dan and his group have also volunteered much of their time in the past for many benefit concerts.
Here is where this story gets good. We are putting together a fundraiser for Dan in the efforts to help relieve some of the financial burdens this unforeseen storm has brought about. We are orchestrating a fundraiser on January 27, 2008 at the Radisson Hotel Whittier (7320 Greenleaf Ave. Whittier, 90602).
Great musical groups such as SOTO, Suave, Sangria, The Company, Dyverzity, and Pepe Marquez and his Latin Soul Review (from Santa Barbara),and DJ TIME are volunteering their musical groups and their time for this benefit concert.
The Whittier Radisson Hotel management has also donated one of their ballrooms and staff for this event.
