Chicano Student Programs of UC Riverside presents the 15th Annual Noche Cultural on Saturday, January 19, 2008. The event is an evening of variety entertainment for the entire family. Doors open at 6:30 pm with show to begin at 7:00 pm in the University Theatre.
This year's line up includes a performance by In Tlanextli Tlacopan (www.tlanextli.com), traditional Aztec fire dancers from M?®xico City, who will literally light up the stage when they perform energized dances and handle fire to the rhythmic beating of drums. Also performing will be Justin Rivera, a UCR alumnus, who will perform various exciting magic tricks.
The evening also includes a performance representing various regions of M?®xico by Ballet Folkl??rico & Mariachi Mexicatl de UCR presented by the new Studio of Mexican Music and Dance under the Department of Music. Both groups are comprised of UCR students and will be accompanied by Music Department Lecturers JohnAvalos and Laura Sobrino.
Making their 15th appearance will be the local familia, Los Romeros with a family act and their own very special renditions of romantic ballads.
Just added, Los Tres Galantes comprised of brothers, Luis Alberto, 21; Jesus Daniel, 19; and Miguel Josue, 17, forming what is known to be the youngest trio to date, blending traditional sound of tres voces and beautiful requinto in addition to their own added style inspired by their taste in modern music.
