A Development, Marketing and Communications Coordinator is sought to work for PADRES Contra El Cancer, an organization committed to improving the quality of life for Latino children with cancer and their families. The position directly reports to the Director of Development, Marketing and Communications.
Marketing and Communications duties include: coordinate creative needs, budgets and timetables with external vendors to meet marketing needs of the organization; use graphic and layout software programs [ie Adobe PhotoShop and Adobe InDesign] to create and manipulate materials in English and Spanish; create and manage the distribution of the monthly organizational e-newsletter via SimpleSend; maintain and update IAmHOPE website (English and Spanish) on a regular basis with monthly updates to the home page, image gallery, calendar of events, and profiles (family, volunteer and ambassador); inventory management and distribution of marketing and corporate communication materials [ie press releases, signage, media kits, communication videos, promotional campaigns, brochures, presentation materials, wrap reports, etc.]; create a PADRES Style Guide to ensure compliance and consistency of all creative material; research publicity opportunities and pitch stories to local and national General Market and Hispanic media; compile analytical marketing and media reports for management, corporate partners and Board of Directors on an as-needed basis.
Fund Development duties include: maintain and update donor databases, department calendars and media libraries; handle general administrative duties for the department; assist the department with all aspects of fundraising coordination, outreach and research to include the development of fundraising appeals (email and direct mail), grant opportunities along with tracking grant submissions, deadlines and grant approvals; assist in the compilation of grant reporting information; attend and assist with organizational special events, activities and programs; assist with the management of department interns, whenever applicable; other duties as assigned.
Minimum qualifications: BachelorÔÇÖs Degree [communications or marketing preferred] or equivalent work experience and at least 1.5 years experience in a marketing and/or media relations office [nonÔÇôprofit organization preferred, not required]; proven ability to communicate and manage creative direction to outside designers; demonstrate bilingual [English and Spanish] written and verbal communications skills with solid understanding of basic grammar, syntax and APA style; able to develop quality written content and possess exceptional proofreading skills; be able to produce exemplary detail-oriented work in a high-pressure, deadline-driven environment, while prioritizing and proactively coordinating multiple tasks with limited supervision; also must be able to balance short-term deadlines against long-term goals; be computer-literate with high-level proficiency in Microsoft Office programs [Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint], desktop publishing [Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator and Adobe InDesign], database management and Internet research; must possess the ability to collaborate with various personalities in a positive manner, demonstrating solution-oriented problem solving skills, tact and professionalism; must have an enthusiastic, outgoing personality to engage donors, media partners and other various relationships; must be able to adapt positively and efficiently to last-minute change in a fast-paced environment; some overtime and weekend work required.
$35,000 - $40,000 annually (based on experience), plus excellent benefits
