Latin Grooves at Casa de Sousa

The sounds that came out of Olvera Street's Casa de Sousa on Sunday evening June 28th, was the combination of various Latin grooves.

El Haru Kuoi is a three-member band featuring Eddika as lead singer/guitarist, Mike on stand-up bass and Dominique on percussion/drums. El Haru kuoi started off their set with a roots vibe from Peru and Brazil and finished the set with a little rock en espa??ol.

Hand-clapping and feet-tapping filled the room as the audience seemed to take in the rhythm and enjoy the sounds of Haru Kuoi. The band is amazing and definitely worth seeing. Their music is rhythmic and upbeat as well as mellow and comforting.

Next up was La Santa Cecelia (pictured), a six-member group whose sounds range from cumbia classics to jazz. They started their set by getting everyone dancing and smiling on the small dance floor.

Santa Cecilia is La Marisol a passionate and powerful lead singer who delivers with ease. The rest of the talented band features Gloria Estrada on guitar, Jose Carlos on accordion, Alex Bendana on guitar, Hugo Vargas on drums, and Miguel Ramirez on percussion.

The band as a whole produces a great mixture of Latino music that is rich and humbling.

Both bands filled the evening with great vibes, great music and left the audience feeling full and content.
