KCRW (89.9 FM and KCRW.com) will be heading to New York City next week for live Morning Becomes Eclectic broadcasts, a KCRW.com Presents showcase on Wednesday, July 9 at the Knitting Factory and more during the Latin Alternative Music Conference.
New York City is the home of KCRW.com‘«÷s largest audience outside of California and we are bringing our trademark eclectic mix directly to our devoted fans on the other coast with a number of local events.
We‘«÷re starting off with a Happy Hour Meetup at Botanica (47 E Houston St.) on Tuesday, July 8, hosted by Morning Become Eclectic Producer Ariana Morgenstern. There will be tunes by DJ Raul Campos and we will be celebrating from 5pm into the night. The event is free and we will have KCRW goodies to give out.
On Wednesday, July 9, we do what we do best ‘«Ű put together a great lineup of music.
We are hosting a special one-night only KCRW.com Presents showcase in the Knitting Factory Main Room. KCRW Music Director Nic Harcourt will host the evening, headlined by Tally Hall and featuring Brooklynites Little Jackie, and Salt & Samovar. Tickets are $12 in advance and are available at the Knitting Factory website. Doors open at 8pm.
LAMC is the biggest event in the world for cutting edge Latin music. KCRW is the official radio sponsor and will be broadcasting Morning Becomes Eclectic live on July 10 and 11, with live guests Alla and Ximena Sarinana.
‘«£Every year at LAMC we discover new bands that we may have not known otherwise. We are one of the only radio stations playing Latin Alternative artists on our airwaves, so we feel strongly about supporting them,‘«ō said Harcourt who has been dubbed ‘«£Latin Alternative's Anglo Advocate‘«ō by The Washington Post. Harcourt and Morning Becomes Eclectic producer and native Argentine Ariana Morgenstern will also be LAMC panelists. Go here for more info: www.latinalternative.com
KCRW DJ Raul Campos, who will serve as the host for LAMC, will also be broadcasting his show live (10pm to midnight PST) from New York on July 10 and 11. The show blends house, down-tempo, urban-soul, and Latin rhythms together for a killer mix.
