I had the pleasure of attending the world premiere of Little Girl Lost: the Delimar Vera Story. I covered the red carpet event at the Director‘«÷s Guild last Thursday evening. Lifetime is reaching out to the Latino community and this film reaches out and touches the very core of who we are with this true story of a mother‘«÷s love.
Judy Reyes plays the role of Luz Cuevas, a mother who does not believe that her 10-day-old daughter perished in a home fire. Hector Bustamante plays Pedro Vera, the grieving father who is trying to forge a home for his distraught wife and their two sons.
Both Judy and Hector agreed that the script was amazing and each played their role so believably that we could identify with a mother‘«÷s heartbreak and a father‘«÷s need to move on for the sake of the other children and for their marriage.
I saw other stars on the red carpet, including actor David Zayas who is a friend of Judy Reyes and who was there to support her.
Ana Ortiz, plays Carolyn Correa, a woman with a questionable past who may have had something to do with the missing little girl. Ana was not present as she is currently filming, ‘«£Ugly Betty‘«ō in New York.
I caught up with actor A Martinez, who plays Pennsylvania State Representative, Angel Cruz.
When Luz cannot turn to help from other family members to help find her child, she turns to Angel Cruz. Representative Cruz listened to her and was the first person to believe her story that perhaps her daughter had not perished in the fire but was actually kidnapped.
The real Luz Cuevas was there on the red carpet with her daughter, Delimar Vera. They appeared shy with all the attention they received. They clung to each other, embraced and seemed a bit nervous with sharing their story with all of us.
How can you measure a mother‘«÷s love?
All of the actors were understandably moved with the courageous actions of Luz Cuevas, a Latina mother who would stop at nothing to find her daughter.
Lifetime Movie Network will feature Little Girl Lost: The Delimar Vera story on Sunday, August 17 at 9PM
