If I Was in Your Shoes

If I was in your shoes, what would I take?
What would I do with all of my stuff?
How do you decide what stays and what goes?
Things so neatly packed
One large suit case with 2 small ones
Snuggly fitted into a rolling cart

If I was in your shoes, what would I take?
What about all of my pictures?
Is family more important than friends?
What about that last trip before everything changed?
Pictures of Mom, Dad, my children, which ones?
What if they don't fit?

If I was in your shoes, what would I take?
What about my books?
My laptop?
Where's all my sewing stuff
Oh no, I can't be without my music
It's not important anymore

If I was in your shoes, what would I take?
You look so neat and clean
Layers look good in you
Are you warm enough?
Where do you go all day?

If I was in your shoes, what would I take?
Home of the Little Flower is far from the annals of skid row
Nestled in between million dollar homes
No grit to deal with
Druggies can't drag you down
No soup kitchen either
Where do you sleep?

You're so quiet and unassuming
Don't want to bother anyone
Does your family know you're here?
Would my children let me be like you?
If I was in your shoes, what would I do?
