Mujeres de Maiz presents "La Sagrada/The Sacred," a month-long series of intercultural, intergenerational, and interdisciplinary art events celebrating our 12th Anniversary and 7th poetry and arts publication, in honor of International Women's Day, and Women's Herstory Month. Showcasing multi-media art, exhibit, musical performances, independent films, with holistic health workshops. Chicana and women of color emerging and veteran women artists, community leaders, and activists will be highlighting themes on women artistry, Spirituality, native traditions, their relation to the earth, and their urban political and spiritual reality.

Performances by: Flamenca dancer extraordinaire, Briseyda Zarate; the queer performance art of Butchlalis de Panochtitlan; SriLankan comedian and performance artist, D'Lo; veteran Chicana poets, Lorna Dee Cervantes and Gloria Alvarez; Xicana Indigenous drum group, In Lak Ech; writer, producer and actress, Josefina Lopez, as well as Raquel Salinas. The musical styling's of Latina norteno-fusion group, La Santa Cecilia; LA's hip hop goddess herself, Medusa; comedy and theater of Las Ramonas (formerly Teatro M3); performance art/dance of Mujeres en Resistencia (de San Diego, CA); the hip hop dance of Jackie Lopez; the music of Samia & Nia; the Australian Chicana hip hop of Maya Jupiter; and the performance art of Reina Prado, and Space Intruders, with more artists TBA.

La Sagrada/The Sacred" art exhibit highlighting women artists. "In the spirit of our ancestors this space/exhibit will engage the community in a dialogue about the contribution of women's work to the decolonization and healing of our communities.

All mujer Mercado including Mujeres de Maiz artists and veteranas will sell jewelry, natural health & body items, clothing, books, art, and much more. Holistic Health Workshops will also be offered in an array of topics for women's health in mind, body, spirit.
