Justice in a Flawed System

Mario Rocha was at the wrong place at the wrong time and wrongfully accused of murder.

Based on one witness this young man from L.A at the age of 16 was tried as an adult and sentenced to two life sentences in prison with no parole.

Mario's Story: is an extraordinary documentary movie that takes place over a ten year span..

His salvation is writing-he participated in a writing program{ Inside out writers} when he was at Central Juvenile Hall for two years.

He discovered he had a talent for writing.

At the age of 18 he is sent to Calipatria prison for life

With little to no chance of proving his innocence, with the help of a nun, two lawyers and his entire family and friends believing in him.

There is a glimpse of hope; Mario never gave up on himself.

What kept him going and grounded was writing poems, short stories and plays

I saw the moviei on Netflix, and was compelled to share this remarkable story.

Showtime is airing "Mario's Story" the entire month of March. Keep an eye for it and watch it.

It is also available on DVD
