I was angered but not surprised at the ferocity of the first attacks by Republicans on Federal Judge Sonia Sotomayor, the historic first Latina ever nominated to the Supreme Court. As their Latino voter supports withers away to nada, Republicans loudly deny even that Sotomayor -- only second in her class at Princeton! -- is qualified to even be nominated to the bench.
That and the vicious race-baiting and name calling these cavemen engaged in, greatly offended me.
But, it also inspired me to draw an editorial cartoon featuring my 5-year-old daughter, "playing Judge," with her little stuffed bear Pepito on the witness stand, and her Barbie, stuffed Snoopy and Dora in the jury box. Little "Judge Lopez" looks admiringly at a picture of Judge Sotomayor on the wall.
The image became a hit on my Facebook page, and now I make it available to you.
The color 12"x18" Lalo Alcaraz Sonia Sotomayor poster is now ready for shipping: $15 for 1, includes shipping and handling, and any additional posters are only $10 each more.
