The authentic, annual LA tradition of Brazilian Carnaval erupts on Saturday February 20, 2010 at Club Nokia/LA Live, transforming the massive dance floor into a true Brazilian party, for the first time in Downtown LA.
Boasting the title of largest Carnaval on the West Coast, Brazilian Nites Carnaval has consistently sold out, drawing a crowd of 3000+ for the past 9 years. This music and dance spectacle offers LA club goers an authentic demonstration of Carnaval dance, costuming, parading, music, drink and food.
At the heart of the 2010 celebration is the legendary Carnaval band direct from Bahia, TRIO ELETRICO Armandinho, Dodo & Osmar with top-notch musicians performing irresistible Carnaval beats. The party starts at 8:00 p.m. with LIVE music by ARMANDINHO, "a Brazilian cousin of QUEEN's Bryan May, with a touch of ELO's classic pomp thrown in" - LA TIMES.
Heating up the dance floor will be the Brazilian Nites Samba Dancers hypnotizing with their batucada rhythms in feather and sequin micro costumes, a Capoeira Show PLUS sessions of en masse dance floor choreography, caipirinhas, Brazilian arts and crafts, Havaianas, and giveaway souvenirs of Mardi Gras beads, tambourines and shakers. Costumes encouraged!
Trio El?®trico is a roving band on a float, originated by Dodo and Osmar in 1950 on the bed of a 1929 Model T Ford truck and paraded throughout Salvador Bahia, equipped with a high power sound system. The Trio Eletrico's performance of frevo marks one of the first and most chapters in the history of Brazilian music and will be commemorated as "60 years of the Electric Trio," the theme for Salvador's Carnaval this year.
Patricia and Gilberto Leao, Producers from Brazilian Nites Productions, have brought to LA the best of Brazilian talent including recently Gilberto Gil and Caetano Veloso since 1990.
