Cerritos Community College welcomed renowned author Michele Serros on Thursday March 25th, for an afternoon of poetry and storytelling.
Serros was named by Newsweek as "One of the Top Women to Watch for in The New Century," and is a former staff writer for The George Lopez Show. Her first book titled "Chicana Falsa and other stories of Death, Identity, and Oxnard" was published while she was a student at Santa Monica City College. From then on, she has gone on to write several other novels that have been well received.
As a former college student, Serros says she is always happy to speak at colleges. "I've always made it a priority to speak at community colleges," she said. "When I was a student, I always knew how important it was for us to have guest speakers come to our school."
The successful latina writer has earned a loyal fan base that is very diverse. Her humorous and honest personality comes alive in each one of her books, and fans at Cerritos College formed long lines to get their copies of her latest book, " ?íScandalosa!" signed.
Serros is currently working on her next novel, "A (Sorta) Unmarried Mexican."
"It's like a 'Mex and The City' type of novel." Serros joked.
