Orale, Mi Gente!

July is here, with all the heat and action that you would expect in the Land of 1000 Dances.
Happy belated Father's Day to all you FATHERS (and NOT just baby's daddy) who work to help make things right for our precious little people.
Happy belated 4th of July to ALL of us Americans, especially our U.S. Military Veterans, for whom without their sacrifices, this holiday, and Country & freedom it represents, would not be possible...don't get me wrong here...
...I mean people don't risk death to get here for the weather, right?
..the freedoms, rights, and benefits that allow people to talk trash openly about our leaders, fly another flag of another country without getting jailed or shot, practicing any religion openly, getting FREE education for their kids, not having political "disappearances" or cowardly suicide bombers in our shopping malls, and the openness to be outright ungrateful and non-appreciative while enjoying all this freedom...is BROUGHT TO YOU by our noble veterans...
...so a BIG thank you is in order! We don't ask for much....
In other places, L.A. Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa is in hot water again for his cocky & arrogant comments to a reporter when asked if he was getting FREE tickets to the L.A. Lakers NBA finals at the Staples Center smiling like a spoiled rat, he simply said 3 times "Yes...I'll be there in an official capacity"...)
I think people have had it up to here with spoiled and over-privileged politicians who continue to live a life a life of luxury on our dime while us taxpayers & our families are going hungry and doing without.
Remember that (L.A. City Attorney) Rocky Delgadillo episode where is wife was driving his City leased luxury SUV, without a license or insurance, without his knowledge, while he was out of town...and she wrecked it ? Then, he tried to shove the repair bill up the taxpayer's behind before he got caught?
I sure do! Now he wants to run for State Attorney General. Talk about nerve!!
Ever notice how politicians can raise MILLIONS for personal campaigns, without question, and yet NOT lift a finger to help charity or youth organizations, or schools? And the media no dicen nada????
Elections ARE JUST AROUND THE CORNER, and I feel it's time to take the self-appointed royalty to task, examine some of their expensive perks (como the lifetime payroll for members of Congress), strip them of them, and put some of these crooks in jail (and OFF the payroll) while restoring some trust & confidence in public office, before we all go broke and sell our country to foreign interests to pay our bills.
Voting time is coming up, mi Gente...
OK..enough of the dark side, let's get on with the sunshine, watcha:
It's happening every Thursday night at the PALOMA ROOM on Whittier Boulevard in Montebello, where good food, good music, dancing, great stand up comedy, drink specials, and FREE parking & admission help you bring on the weekend in style! Hosted by Chicano Comedian George Perez, with my good friend Chef CORY SILVA behind the grill (yes! A man of many talents!), I checked out the action last week, and it was on! Place was clean, food was great, a good program was put on, and I'll be back there next week! For more info: Abelardito email@example.com or call 626-409-1919.
