SALARY RANGE: Staring salary based on experience, qualification, and budget.
(100% time ÔÇô 40 hours per week)
Under the direction of the program director, the lead health educator is responsible for conducting HIV/AIDS Health Education/Risk Reduction Prevention with HIV Testing Counseling and Referral services women and their partners at at-risk.
RESPONSIBILITIES/DUTIES: include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
ÔÇó Provide targeted HIV/AIDS Health Education/Risk Reduction services
ÔÇó Provide HIV counseling and testing referral services.
ÔÇó Assisting with the 12-hour HIV/STD's, prevention training workshops
ÔÇó Responsible for the on-going recruitment and follow-up to women interested in participating in the Promotora Project.
ÔÇó Will assist the community Promotora with scheduling presentations in her community and maintain contact and monitor program participation
ÔÇó Establish and maintain effective working relationships with groups and AIDS comprehensive organizations, drug and alcohol agencies, churches, community centers and women's service agencies, etc.
ÔÇó Develop monthly schedules for HIV prevention trainings and outreach sites
ÔÇó Attends and participates in ELAWC trainings, community and staff meetings, as scheduled
ÔÇó Prepares monthly reports and data collection as required by the funding source
ÔÇó Develops behavior change plans with women during the training session
EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS:
ÔÇó Excellent written and oral communication skills; well-organized, attention to detail, and able to meet deadlines; flexibility and ability to work on multiple tasks.
ÔÇó Commitment to prevention; willingness to take on administrative responsibilities and tasks
ÔÇó Experience with recruitment and supervision of volunteers
ÔÇó Ability to effectively present information to individuals and public groups
ÔÇó Requires high level of concentration, ability to handle frequent changes and meet deadlines
ÔÇó College degree or equivalent experience in social services, women's health services, outreach and prevention education or two (2) years equivalent experience
ÔÇó Experience working with women and their partners at-risk
ÔÇó Current HIV/AIDS and STI's knowledge and certification as an HIV testing counselor
ÔÇó Effective oral and written communication skills
ÔÇó Working knowledge of word and spreadsheet (MS Excel) programs
ÔÇó Current California driver license and ability to drive to program sites
ÔÇó Ability to work 40 hours a week with some evenings and weekends as needed
Bilingual (English/Spanish) a plus.
Experience providing harm reduction counseling for persons at risk of HIV infection.
