Big Lots at Fiesta Broadway

The nation?s largest pre-Cinco de Mayo celebration has teamed up with the nation?s largest broadline closeout retailer for the XIV Annual Fiesta Broadway. Big Lots will be a debut sponsor at the free daylong entertainment festival which is Los Angeles? premier family event. Along with the expected 500,000 attendees, Big Lots will take to the streets of downtown Los Angeles on Sunday, April 27th.
The Big Lots booth located at 5th and Broadway will feature the company?s new International Foods display offering more than 80 food products specifically selected and targeted toward Southern California?s Hispanic consumers; offer giveaways including store coupons and premiums such as hats, sports bottles, and other products; and feature two game wheels where guests can spin to win a variety of prizes including $10 Big Lots gift cards. A live entertainer will also be on-site juggling and making balloon animals for children.
"Fiesta Broadway is a great event that provides Big Lots with a terrific opportunity to raise awareness about our stores and the benefits of closeout shopping in Southern California," said Kent Larsson, executive vice president of marketing at Big Lots. "We're looking forward to introducing our new International Foods products to this audience as well as our Southern California shoppers.?
Los Angeles Mayor James Hahn will return to Fiesta Broadway and officially present the 2003 Fiesta Queen, Alicia Villareal, and Grand Marshals, Los Tucanes de Tijuana, on the main stage, at a special 3 p.m. ceremony.
Non-stop, live entertainment by top musical acts, hands-on activities and games, and
the best in Latin food and drink can be found within the 36-block area in the heart of downtown. The stellar line-up of musical artists, which is still growing, will feature everything from pop and tropical, to Mexican regional. Tentatively scheduled to perform are Alicia Villareal, Los Tucanes de Tijuana, Gisselle, Millie Corretjer, Razos, Malandrines, Pablo Montero, Graciela Beltran, Jennifer Pe?a, Alberto y Roberto, El General, German Lizarraga, Ninel Conde, Arkangel R-15, La Raza Obrera, Sonora Show, Ana Barbara, Tito Puente Jr. and Victor Manuelle.
Fiesta Broadway is the premier Cinco de Mayo kick-off celebration of Southern California, drawing over half a million people to 36-blocks of downtown Los Angeles every year since 1990. Presented by All Access Entertainment (AAE) and the City of Los Angeles, Fiesta Broadway is the nation?s largest, free family pre-Cinco de Mayo festival. Fiesta Broadway offers a full day of live entertainment by Grammy-winning, Billboard chart-topping artists, hands-on activities and the best in Latin food delights.
Giving back to the community is important to Fiesta Broadway. As such, a number of charitable organizations benefit from the event. For 2003, such charities include the Ronald McDonald House Charities, the National Transplantation Center, the Historic Core Business Improvement District and the Los Angeles Scholarship Program for Inner City Education. Also for 2003, Fiesta Broadway is hosting its 1st Fiesta Broadway Charity Golf Tournament.
