Touring With the Beatles and More
Son of the legendary Richard "Scar" Lopez of Cannibal and the Headhunters learning more about his dad's legacy
As a member of the group Cannibal and the Headhunters, my dad, Richard "Scar" Lopez, was part of a legendary tour across the United States with the Beatles .

That was that Shea Stadium tour, where 56,000 people screamed for hours.
It was well-regarded, and then to pull it in a bit further a one of a kind sort of episode due to the ethnicity of my dad's group. From what I am gathering, Cannibal and the Headhunters are the only Mexican American Group to ever tour with the Beatles , and to be on the Beatle plane as well.
There is a lot of great music that came out of East Los Angeles, and from what I'm understanding, Cannibal and the Headhunters brought East L.A. to the rest of the country.
There was The Beatles tour of course, and the Murray the K shows, with top-of-the-line Motown stars like Marvin Gaye, Smokey Robinson, The Temptations, The Four Tops , Little Anthony and the Imperials, The Righteous Brothers, The Marvelettes, Martha and the Vandellas, the Supremes, and so many more .
What about the Beach Boys, Sony and Cher, the Moody Blues, etc .
I mean my dad did some really awesome things musically, and for being just a teenager coming from public housing projects, it is exceptional .
My dad never blew his own horn to me, one single time. That's amazing to have done all of these beautiful things and to be so humble about it.
They were picking fruit up north to earn enough money for a car , when getting a call from Cannibal informing them of their record hitting , and to get back to Los Angeles to fly to New York for their first television appearance. They were going to "Hullaballo" with Michael Landon and Dione Warwick! That's awesome for boys in the projects, anyone for that matter .
Lots of mistakes were made along the way, with the group ultimately going their separate ways after being together such a short period of time until the comeback. I will elaborate on that some other time.
My dad, Rabbit, Yo Yo and Cannibal were the only ones to have ever played with these beautiful stars I mentioned earlier.
Four guys  that's it, and Rabbit is the only one of those four still alive , so what does that tell you about stories you might hear from not the genuine article!
For now, I am so proud of my dad and his accomplishments. My dad was a rock star, and all of these photos I have with Smokey Robinson, Marvin Gaye, The Temptations and more are so awesome to me.
Beyond Beautiful. I have so much to write about. This is only a start.
