HealthCorps members serve 1-2 years working on the front lines at AltaMed Health Services Corporation, the largest Community Health Center in California, which operates over 40 clinics and program sites in the underserved communities of L.A and Orange Counties.
AltaMed serves everyone from pre-natal primary care to youth services for at-risk teens to innovative programs of all-inclusive care for the elderly. Member's roles reflect the diversity of AltaMed's mission and it's patients. Community HealthCorps members focus on working directly with patients and community members on Preventative Health Education, Community Outreach, and creating and institutionalizing new programs and services for our clinics and programs.
Positions include but are not limited to: -Health Education - Childhood Obesity Specialist -Health Education - Senior Care Specialist -Health Education - Chronic Disease Specialist -HIV Prevention -Youth Education and Outreach -Youth Services- Teen Clinic Counselor -Youth Services - At Risk Teen Civic Engagement Mentor -Senior Services- Caregiver Support Group Specialist -Health Education and Outreach- Women's/Men's Health Community Outreach and Education- Mobile Clinic We are currently recruiting for our 2011-2012 Program Year. It is a Full-Time 1700 term, running from 9/6/2011 to 8/3/2011. Applications are accepted on a rolling basis. Finalists will be interviewed in June and July.
Member Duties : Community Outreach, Health Education, At Risk Youth Mentorship, Civic Engagement service projects, special projects in HIV Prevention, Geriatric Depression Research, Childhood Obesity Prevention, Tobacco Cessation, Men's Health, Maternal Health, and Volunteer Engagement. As a team we do monthly service projects, bi-monthly trainings, and special media projects and events.
