I, The Audience Rebel

The audience rebels and I am the audience! Injustice cannot be tolerated. And when I don't get what I want when I want it, I rebel.

I listen to all music, but the music that touches me the most is this music we are to experience tonight ÔÇô Latin Jazz!

This experience, as Sonny Rollins, would say: "Jazz brings together all of those who came before; Mongo Santamaria, Tito Puente, Mario Bauza, Tito Rodriguez, Arcenio, Toscanini, Ravel, Ellington, etc., etc.".

We ask and fight to bring Latin Jazz as a category to the attention to N.A.R.A.S. and its award, "The Grammy", so that our artists and music can achieve the heights of that endeavor and bear fruit.

Then they relegate us to the rear, off camera, presenting the award without fanfare; without looking at the artistic and cultural awareness. Now they want to eliminate the category all together. Statistics show that families that listen to jazz have a less chance of delinquency within the family unit.

So I, the audience, when I don't get what I need for my pleasure within, I rebel! I want to listen to my music when I want to listen to it

Editor's Note: What do you think of the National Academy of Recording Arts & Sciences (NARAS) eliminating the Latin Jazz category from the GRAMMY Awards? Comment below!
